EarlyBirds! ™ Early Childhood
Music Program is for children walking through five years of
age! The classes use music and movement with your child’s
natural enthusiasm to teach basic musical skills. Classroom
activities include singing, dancing and playing of various age-appropriate
instruments. The program focuses
on the development of rhythmic coordination, tonal comprehension
and musical participation.
EarlyBirds! ™ integrates established
early childhood teaching methods and traditional folk melodies
with fun, innovative ideas and original songs. Activities
accompany the songs using developmentally appropriate instruments,
which enhance singing and movement. Children learn through
active participation with parents/caregivers and other children
about beat, rhythm, melody, patterns and harmony as well as
preschool concepts such as the seasons of the year.
Our small class size enables our instructors
to customize their teaching to the specific needs of a particular
group of children. Each class is considered unique and the
teacher responds to signals from the children in order to
provide them with the best possible learning environment.
The smaller class sizes pre-exposes children to group classroom
learning and socialization before kindergarten and preschool.
The classes are 45 minutes in length.
The first portion of the class is a brief free-play acclamation
time for the children in our playroom. Children play with
toys or read books that support the curriculum while listening
to the instructor who plays the songs from the class.
The primary part of the class focuses
on the 12 songs chosen for the current semester. The songs
focus on the natural and cultural events associated with the
different seasons. As each song is sung, children play instruments
to accompany the melody while developing a particular musical
or motor skill. Many of the songs involve movement, such as
simple dancing or marching to the beat.
Our EarlyBirds! ™ program
is unique because the program emphasizes learning specific
musical skills on instruments in a small dynamic classroom
environment. Every child learns and performs on his/her own
instrument. Class are carefully structured for musical learning
while maintaining flexibility and fun.
EarlyBirds! ™ sessions are 12-week seasonal quarters.
The tuition for each quarter is $225. This tuition includes
free parking, registration fees and a CD of the songs from
the class. Advanced registration is required as classes fill
up early.
